There seems to be a public perception that romance as a genre is trivial and silly, and romance novels sometimes provoke sneers from literature snobs. Do you ever feel ashamed or embarrassed to admit to reading romance novels?

Nope! I'm a proud romance reader :D I'd rather read romance than not read at all.
Not at all, I really enjoy this genre.
Nope. I read a little bit of everything and I don't care what other people think about it.
I'd like to say no, but there are certainly times (and audiences) when I would rather not admit to reading romance. Of course, there are levels of romance. I'm always happy to admit to reading a bit of Philippa Gregory, or Austen. Reading a cheeky mills and boon though, I wouldn't bring up to many people.
It's funny how people have higher standards with books than they would with tv shows. It's fine to admit to watching Big Brother but books are supposed to be cultured and literary, not just fun.
That's true, although I have to admit to small moments of judgement when someone watches big brother or the bachelor. We all have our own biases!
