Beautiful landscape sun over the hill
Can reality live up to the perfection of fiction?

Leaving aside the fact that the hero ALWAYS adores the heroine, do you find the rest of the relationship realistic in romance novels? If not, why not?

Yes, It can be realistic, Why not?
I think they can be realistic - but perhaps it depends on the genre.
I'm not sure myself. It probably depends on which romances you're talking about The Mills and Boon style ones I find quite unbelievable though. Especially the insane, tumultuous romance that takes place over all of 3 days :)
Unfortunately, I think they are completely unrealistic, but hey, that's fiction for ya!
I think they have varying degrees of realism. There are some which are extremely unrealistic, but it is the realistic ones which are often the most emotional.
The ones I read are pure escapism, not just for the sake of the romance, but the rest of the story too, like the girl ends up with the job of her dreams and the perfect neighbour who ends up her best friend and the lottery win and and and.. If I wanted to read about real life I'd pick up a newspaper!
